Jade's Story - A Rescued Kitten

By Gemma Howlett.

One late October evening, 2002, my self, my husband and my daughter were on our way home from visiting our parents.

While driving we noticed three boys throwing something into the road. It was moving, my husband stopped the car I got out to see what it was.

As I got closer I could see a crisp packet but it was no ordinary crisp packet it had four little black and white legs poking out from underneath it. I didn't know what to do, so my husband suggested to pick it up.

The four little legs managed to make several huge cuts on my arms.

Little knowing what to do I put the little thing inside my coat to try to calm the poor thing down, my husband told me to get into the car and said we would go home and come back later to see who it belonged to.

When we got home I opened my coat and there was a tiny little face looking up at me.

At first we thought it was a boy but soon realized he was a she!!!

We tried to find out who the little kitty belonged to but no body knew anything all we had was the image left of the boys throwing her in front of our moving car.

We called her jade she was about 6 weeks old at the time, very nervous every time we had visitors she would scarper.

She is still very nervous now but she is such a gem we would be lost with out our little Jade.

Well done to you Gemma. Your action in rescuing little Jade not only meant saving a precious little kitty, but also meant that you have your selves a pet to love and who gives you love.

Your story reminds me of the time I rescued a small kitten on a cold snowy night a few days before Christmas. I had that wonderful little cat for 19 years.
