A blessing

I'm eighteen and my black cat came to me about a week before Christmas. I was watching a movie and i heard meowing out my front door... i had the the door open because i was having a cigarette at the time.
I looked out the door and saw a small black kitten. When i walked outside, it ran under the my car. After about fifteen minutes of trying to catch him, he finally came towards me.
He was only about 4 weeks old and looked like he was outside for a while. It was one of the coldest days of the year so i had no choice but to keep him.
As soon as i got him into the house, he began to purr and immediately took a liking to me. Ever since that night, he has been at my feet every second.
I contacted all the local vets and humane societies but nobody seemed to be looking for a black kitten.
I have had him for almost a year now and i feel like he was a serious blessing. My life has begun to put itself back together and i have never felt a connection to an animal like i do with my black cat, Dopey.
He is a very nervous cat, but when he is around me, he is so affectionate and so loving. He seems to be scared of everyone but me, even after a year, my mom and brother are not able to pick him up...he just runs away. He is one of the sweetest cats i've ever come across and he has such an amazing personality.
Black Cats are not bad luck...just like any other cat they are great companions and beautiful animals.
