Feb 5, 2010, Woman tried to sell pierced kittens.
A Pennsylvania woman who marketed online what she called Gothic Kittens with ear and neck piercings has been convicted of animal cruelty.
On Wednesday a Luzerne County jury convicted 35-year-old dog groomer Holly Crawford of one misdemeanor count and one summary count of animal cruelty, but acquitted the woman on two separate counts. She will face sentencing on March 31.
Holly Crawford was charged in December 2008 after animal welfare officers took several kittens and a cat from her home. Deputy District Attorney David Pedri told jurors that she inflicted pain on three black kittens to make money by selling "Gothic kittens" on the Internet.
Defense attorneys argued that parents allow their children to get pierced ears at young ages, and it would be wrong to hold cat owners to a higher standard.
Yes, some parents do 'allow' their children to get their ears pierced, but I sincerely hope that none forced them to do it. You can't 'allow' a kitten to get its ears pierced only force it. I'm told that ear piercing does not hurt, but I'm sure it would cause a kitten stress.
Besides, just my opinion, but I don't think you can add to the beauty of a kitten by any such adornments. And from what I've read, the body piercings must have caused pain. I cannot help but think the conviction of cruelty is right.

Jan 31, 2010, Bengal Cats – Living Room Leopards.
Bengals are blessed with personality and lots of it! This breed of cat may be admired for their striking and unusual coat patterns, but . . . Bengal cats are not felines that are content to sit quietly on 'display.'
A running, jumping, and very much a climbing cat (a cat tree is highly recommended), in fact, Bengals could be described as feline dynamos. They are curious, intelligent and energy packed cats who will very much make themselves one of the family.

Jan 29, 2010, Race for Life
Today I'm making a post that is not about cats. Well, at a stretch it is a little bit cat related.
My daughter-in-law Lorraine, has decided to do something to give back to this world. She has agreed to take part in a five kilometer race, that's around four and a half long miles I think, to raise money for Cancer Research. The event is called Race for Life and it's being held at the Crystal Palace sports track in London UK.
I think that is admirable. Cancer Research supports research into all aspects of cancer enabling thousands of lives to be saved through earlier detection and improved treatment.
I know that there are countless charities, all of which are deserving, and many are organizing events for sponsorship. But if you could help a little by making a small sponsor donation, it would be greatly appreciated by Cancer Research and would help spur Lorraine on to make that grueling five kilometers :0)
Here's the link - Race for Life
Oh, and by the way, those three gorgeous young ladies on that page are my granddaughters.
So how is this cat related? Well, my cat Mr Robin has made a sponsor donation :0)
