FUNNEEE

we searched local papers for "free" kittens. we found a lady who was watching her sons cat while serving our country in iraq. well.....she was prego.

this poor lady had 6 kittens and a big fat mama. we went to her home and as soon as i walked in the door i looked down into a large bird cage 2 cats where sitting pretty.

i looked in his bright blue eyes and reached out for him he was "sitten pretty" so little. i asked his gender and age. im not too sure she was truthful he seemed to be soo small. the cat sitting next to him was at least 3inches taller.

she informed me that they where twins.....how sweet since we have twin 5 yr olds. i felt bad for separating them but this was our first cat so i was not wanting the responsibility of 2. patrik became an instant member of our family. he is the most intelligent animal i have ever owned. he used litter box for about 2 mths. now he has no use for litter box...yayyyy he has cat door and comes and goes as he pleases.

he is most of the time inside. he answers to his name. comes when called. sleeps with either me or my daughter. he seems to be more loving to me & daughter. he kneads constantly, purrs for hrs and loves to groom. it is sooo funny, he comes to me at about 10p.m. every night to say mama im ready for bed. once me & patrik r snuggled in bed he wants his head ears and belly rubbed. yes! his belly. he will roll on his back throw his arms out and eat up some lovin'.

often he will nudge the covers indicating he wants to get under the covers, he will walk to bottom of bed lay across my feet and sleep all night....amazing. he does not get on my counters which is a good thing..lol we trained him to not do that by givin a cpl squirts of water..hehehe we did that a cpl times. then we just had to touch spray bottle and he would look and stop what he was doing. funny.

we keep dry food in his bowl and clean water at all times, i give him wet food twice a day small cans. if i am busy and have not giving the wet he will sit in kitchen facing the wall. as if to say i will ignore u till u feed me.this is the best cat ever.

patrik is a very healthy energetic loving feline. i love him so much and i know i picked the perfect cat for our family. o'yeah i have to mention that my "cat" plays with the twins 5yrs old like a dog. friends and family comment that they have never seen a "cat" play the way he does with the kids.i love my "free" cat. i just adore him and i know he loves me.patrik is now 8mths old. he is a tuxedo/short hair american breed with the biggest green/yellow eyes ive ever seen.

Loving and playful.
by: Larry (editor)

Hi Jeanne,

Patrik looks like he has just finished a delicious meal.

He is a handsome fellow and I can believe he is as every bit as loving and playful as you say. Yes, you have got yourself a fine cat companion there and Patrik has got himself a family that loves and cares for him.

Thank you very much for sharing you photos with us and telling us about Patrik.

Tiger

by Alicia
(La Plata, Argentina)

I had wanted a cat for so long. I had lived in apartments since I was eighteen, but when I was thirty-nine I was able to move to a house with a small garden at the back. I then decided I couldn’t wait any longer and I started looking for a kitten to adopt.

The thing is, I couldn’t find any, so I was really excited when at a vet’s they told me that at another vet’s they were giving away kittens. When I got there, I didn’t know whether to get in or not, since the kittens were like 6 or 7 months old and I was looking for a much younger kitty.

Still, I went in and there he was – Tiger. The vet told me that he was a tame kitty and he took him out of his cage. I kept looking at him and after a few seconds I petted his head. He gave me a “nose bump” and I knew that he was special.

However, I couldn’t make up my mind. After all, I wanted a really young kitten. Just then Tiger looked at me as if saying, “Won’t you take me with you?” and I couldn’t resist any longer.

He’s been at my home for almost two months now and I still can’t believe how much I love him!

Tiger Too!
by: Anonymous

Hi there,

My story is so similar to yours it's almost uncanny. I too had been wanting a baby kitten for some time when my partner at the time said that friends of his had an older kitten they didn't want any more. They were moving home and the new apartments didn't allow pets at all. I'm sure I would have looked for another apartment.

Anyway, I fell in love with the 'older' kitten, actually a young cat and we brought him home. The other people hadn't even named him and I immediately wanted to call him Tiger because it suits him so much. My partner insisted we call him George! Would you believe I listened to him!

So he became George officially, but often gets called Tiger, doesn't seem to confuse him at all. What a love he is, as well as being a terror. Best thing that ex partner ever did was insist we go see Tiger :)

Chosen by Tiger.

Hi Alicia,

You were chosen by Tiger :0) He looked at you and gave you a nose bump. It did not matter that you thought you wanted a younger kitten, Tiger had chosen you and that was that :0)

Many of us do think of getting a very young kitten, but adopting a cat of any age is wonderful, they give us the love we need.

With the name Tiger I'll guess that he is a tabby and he sounds a wonderful cat companion.

Thank you very much indeed Alicia for telling us how Tiger chose you.
