Black Cat at my Window.
by Richard
I was feeling kinda hacked off new year eve. Not one single invite to a year end party, not one. I told myself to hell with it, I would go out and find my own party, go to a bar and just join in with everyone.
It didn't seem good to go out too early so I sat in my room drinking. Kept thinking I'd go out later, later, then I looked at my watch and saw that it was almost midnight already. As it turned midnight the was the sound of a lot of firecrackers outside which made me look at the window. What the? There was a black cat on the ledge starring in at me!
What! Cats do not sit on that ledge. It is not so very high but I never seen a cat there before. What does this mean for me? Some say black cats are good luck, some say bad luck. Why was it there looking at me right at the start of the new year? Does this mean that the new year is going to be good, it needs to be.
You saw how many...?!

My husband came home from work today and told me that four adult black cats crossed his path walking in a straight line, following each other. He wonders if he is now cursed, or has incredible luck... or if he witnessed a group of witches.
Oh... and it might be helpful to mention- he works in a cemetery as the grounds keeper.
After he was home we were flipping channels on TV and saw a documentary about black cats crossing your path. That's a lot of black cats in one day! What's going on?
Hardy, my black and white cat.

Do black and white cats get included as being lucky? My Hardy, black with a white bib, has been very lucky for me in so many ways.
Hardy, a big boy you can tell from his name, used to come visit before he was my cat, I'll explain. He lived two floors up with an elderly lady, but made friends with me and often used to spend the entire evening in my apartment. The lady did not mind me pet siting her boy, when he was ready to leave he used to scratch at the door and I'd let him out.
Two years ago the lady got the opportunity to go live with her son and asked me if I'd like to take on Hardy, her son had two dogs and she feared that the pets would not mix. I jumped at the chance.
Since he has been my companion my luck has never been better. I don't mean that I have won a fortune, but have had three small lottery wins, but I seem to hit luck throughout my life. Got a promotion, not much more pay but a more interesting and cleaner job. Is it all down to Hardy? I like to think so.
But just having him here is a lucky thing in itself. He doesn't go out much, although all he has to do is go to the door and I'll let him out, he seems to prefer sitting with me watching TV. Cats are great stuff I can tell you that.
