Black Cat at my Window.

by Richard

I was feeling kinda hacked off new year eve. Not one single invite to a year end party, not one. I told myself to hell with it, I would go out and find my own party, go to a bar and just join in with everyone.

It didn't seem good to go out too early so I sat in my room drinking. Kept thinking I'd go out later, later, then I looked at my watch and saw that it was almost midnight already. As it turned midnight the was the sound of a lot of firecrackers outside which made me look at the window. What the? There was a black cat on the ledge starring in at me!

What! Cats do not sit on that ledge. It is not so very high but I never seen a cat there before. What does this mean for me? Some say black cats are good luck, some say bad luck. Why was it there looking at me right at the start of the new year? Does this mean that the new year is going to be good, it needs to be.

Whoa.

This JUST happened to me and my husband! New Year's Eve 2010. We were sitting on our couch, watching a movie. I saw something out of the corner of my eye, turned, and saw a black cat staring into our front porch window. That has NEVER happened before. What are the odds of finding a similiar story, on New Year's Eve?!

A good new year.
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi Richard,

Maybe that black cat did not have an invite to a party either. Or more likely the poor cat was a little spooked with all the firecrackers.

Does it mean good luck or bad luck in the coming year?

Well, why not believe that it will mean good luck for you. As Alyssa says many people believe a black cat seeking you out will mean wealth for you in the new year.

May 2010 be a good one for you.

Happy New Year to you!I believe you will have a great new year. Why? Many people believe that if a black cat seek's you out and comes onto your porch or door, you will be blessed with wealth in the coming year...It is a superstition in MANY countries. I did my homework on this subject because for some reason they seem to find me! Also seem's every time one has found me I was greiving over the loss of another black cat!Read why black cats seem to find me on this site. I wish you well your story reminds me of myself many times in my life. Their is light at the end of the tunnel, you can't stay home and expect oppertunity to knock on your door, you have to go find it yourself. Maybe the black cat is a good omen. Did you keep it?

You saw how many...?!

by Courtney
(Ocala, FL USA)

My husband came home from work today and told me that four adult black cats crossed his path walking in a straight line, following each other. He wonders if he is now cursed, or has incredible luck... or if he witnessed a group of witches.

Oh... and it might be helpful to mention- he works in a cemetery as the grounds keeper.

After he was home we were flipping channels on TV and saw a documentary about black cats crossing your path. That's a lot of black cats in one day! What's going on?

Rats?
by: Jobaputra

Good morning.

Was it in the cemetery your husband saw the cats?

A spooky sight to see I am thinking. But cemetery has mice and rats? Good hunting for cats may be that is why they are there?

A rare sight indeed.

Hi Courtney,

Thank you very much indeed for sharing your interesting story.

Four adult cats, of any color, walking in a line is a rare sight indeed.

A group of witches? That's an interesting idea!

I wonder, although they may have looked like all adult cats, could it have been mom and three older kittens?

I think people are only cursed if they think that they are. Why not think of it as a sign of good luck ;0)

Hardy, my black and white cat.

by George Hastings.

Do black and white cats get included as being lucky? My Hardy, black with a white bib, has been very lucky for me in so many ways.

Hardy, a big boy you can tell from his name, used to come visit before he was my cat, I'll explain. He lived two floors up with an elderly lady, but made friends with me and often used to spend the entire evening in my apartment. The lady did not mind me pet siting her boy, when he was ready to leave he used to scratch at the door and I'd let him out.

Two years ago the lady got the opportunity to go live with her son and asked me if I'd like to take on Hardy, her son had two dogs and she feared that the pets would not mix. I jumped at the chance.

Since he has been my companion my luck has never been better. I don't mean that I have won a fortune, but have had three small lottery wins, but I seem to hit luck throughout my life. Got a promotion, not much more pay but a more interesting and cleaner job. Is it all down to Hardy? I like to think so.

But just having him here is a lucky thing in itself. He doesn't go out much, although all he has to do is go to the door and I'll let him out, he seems to prefer sitting with me watching TV. Cats are great stuff I can tell you that.

Lucky? Of course.
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi George,

Of course black and white cats can be lucky too, and Hardy certainly sounds lucky for you :0)

My own cat, Mr Robin, is black and white and I consider myself very lucky to share life with him.

From your story it seems that Hardy was meant to be with you, enjoy him and the luck that he brings you. Thank you very much for sharing your story.
