He's Gonna be an Outdoor Kitty

Puff

Puff

I didn't decide to get a cat. He just showed up, as a tiny kitten, mewing and meowing at the door. The vet said (at that time)that he wasn't a tiny kitten but actually about six months old! His growth was stunted from having been on his own.

I paid to have him neutered and get all his shots and vaccinations but....my house is small and where would I keep a litter box? I hoped he would just "ask" to go outside like the two dogs I have, but, no, he even pee'd on the bed, so.....I decided he's gonna be an outdoor kitty.

I have a six foot chain link fence all around the backyard, a covered porch and a small shed in the back with a hole in the door where he used to like to go inside and stay. Up until today, at least.

This morning was the first time he ever missed a meal and now I am worried about him, which is why I have searched online and ended up at this site. I had hoped he would stay inside the back yard as there are other people on the street who let there dogs roam loose and cars, etc. He has such a cute relationship with one of my dogs. They play together constantly and sometimes sleep together. I hope he shows up later, but he will still be an outdoor kitty. Maybe.

Who could resist!
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi,

What a strikingly good looking fellow Puff is, no wonder you kept him, who could resist!

I do agree with PioraRua's comment, and not worry too much at the moment. Likely he will soon be back to where he is loved, if he isn't already.

Glad to read that Puff has been neutered and had his shots.

Thank you very much indeed for sharing your cat's photo with us.

He is beautiful!
by: PioraRua

Hi! Absolutely love your cat. He really is gorgeous!

Just to say, don't worry about him missing meals. Cats are like that and sometimes they will turn up their nose at their food.

It could be that he was simply looking for something nicer. Some cats that are fed on the same food from the begining tend to be very picky. Also, they are very peculiar about smelling something that is a bit 'off' to them. It's how they live so long.
My own cat won't drink tap water and I'm sure it's because of the smell of chemicals in it. I keep a bucket out the back to collect rain water and she is more than happy to drink that.

I am delighted to hear you have decided to keep him as an outdoor cat. In my opinion, their is nothing better for a cat to be outside, doing the things that cats do.
Of course though its great to leave them inside also (on their accord of course) to have a nice lap session, as I call it.

I hope the two of ye enjoy your time together and you get the full joy of being a cat owner!

Good luck to ye both,
PioraRua.
