I chose Ginger George.
by Raymond.
When I was a child I had a book about a ginger cat. I must have been given this book when I was not much more than a baby because it was one of those thick card books, all pictures and not many words. But I kept the book until I was at least 8 or 9, I kept it hidden I would have been very embarrassed if anyone had seen it.
The book was an obsession, I was fascinated with the illustrations of the ginger cat. They were only drawings but very lifelike but all the other characters in the book were cartoon like, for the life of me I cant remember the title of the book or the name of the cat.
Any way, as you will probably guess I wanted a ginger cat so when my neighbors cat had a litter of six kittens, two of which were ginger, I just had to have one. So I did choose my cat.
I did think of calling him McVite (ginger nuts) but went for ginger George instead, but I normally just call him George. And now that he has fully grown he does look remarkably like I remember that ginger cat in that book.
George is the best of cats, I'm glad that having that book all those years ago made me choose him.
