I Didn't Choose my Cat--She Chose Me!

Sasha was a feral kitten that a friend of mine in Olympia, Washington trapped in a live trap. She was scrawny, flea ridden, had an eye infection, ear mites and a cold. My friend asked me if I wanted her. I looked at her. She looked at me. The rest was history.

I took her to the vet, got her all fixed up, and now she's still a bit of a freak, but I love her. She was probably around 4 months old when she was trapped, so she was almost to the point where taming her would have been near impossible. She still doesn't allow herself to be picked up or approached by strangers, but she's slowly mellowed out over the past few years.

She will let me approach her and pet her while she's laying on the floor, and only very recently (she is now 7 years old)--she started climbing in my lap. But she has always liked to lay against me in bed, and she loves to be patted up and down her back and scratched and massaged.

This is Sasha checking in!
by: Sasha & Mary

Hi this is Sasha! I just wanted to tell you all about how I surprised my human yesterday by getting in her lap and purring when she was sitting on the couch. I always like lying next to her on the couch, but since I'm almost seven, I decided that it was time to start getting *in* her lap. I got lots of ear scritches and pets for it, so I did it a couple of more times today. I like to keep my human on her toes. :)

Stray kitty
by: Anonymous

Your kitty's story is a lot like Matilda's...
she came to us as a stray .

It has taken her 13 years but now she will come out of hiding for the purpose of greeting my grandson and getting her ears scratched...
Strangers don't upset her anymore...

Thank you to both of you!
by: Mary and Sasha

Thank you both for your kind words. Sasha is indeed a special kitty. She is perched on the couch behind me as I'm typing this, and she agrees that she's pretty magnificent! ;-)

Hi Mary,

Sasha obviously knew what she was doing when she chose you. You have done a wonderful job of looking after her and persuading her to accept life with humans.

A magnificent looking cat with a wonderful name. Thank you very much for sharing your story.

A Pet Meant to Be

Cookie

Cookie

It was morning. I was watching television and eating breakfast before I was going to go to school. Featured on the news was a cute little kitten. This is a TRUE STORY. I said that I wished I had that cat because it was so cute. After school, my dad surprised me and took me to the SPCA. I picked out the cutest cat I could find.

Just after we bought her and were about to leave, the lady came up to us and told us that was the cat that had been on the news this morning. Wishes really do come true.

MR.KITTY, I'M HAPPY I FOUND HIM..

MR. KITTY

MR. KITTY

I WAS @ A FRIENDS COUNTRY HOME, AND THIS SKINNY, LITTLE STRAY CAT WAS TRYING TO GET SOMETHING TO EAT (DOG FOOD, I THINK) YOU COULD TELL, THAT HE PROBABLY HAD NOT ATE IN A WHILE, BECAUSE THE WAY HE WAS TRYING TO GULP DOWN WHAT LITTLE BIT OF FOOD THAT HE COULD GET, BEFORE THE 2 DOGS THAT LIVED ON THE PROPERTY ATTACKED HIM.. THEY WERE TRYING TO KILL HIM!

I HURRIED AND RAN OVER AND KICKED ONE OF THE DOGS OFF OF HIM AND YELLED @ THE OTHER, I THEN HURRIED UP AND SNATCHED HIM UP IN MY ARMS.. HE WAS SHAKING LIKE CRAZY, SCARRED TO DEATH W/ FEAR THAT HE WAS ALMOST RIPPED APART BY THOSE 2 DOGS. I BROUGHT HIM HOME AND GAVE HIM SOME FOOD & WATER..

I COULDN'T BELIEVE HOW HUNGRY HE WAS,AND YOU COULD FEEL & SEE THE BONES IN HIS BACK & RIBS.. THAT WAS ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO, AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PICTURE, HE'S A BIG KITTY, AND HE'S DOING GREAT!! HE PROBABLY WEIGHS CLOSE TO 20 POUNDS.. ISN'T HE JUST A CUTIE,,
