I hit a black cat

by Ceairra

Today I was on the way to go see my boyfriend grandmother and I was just driving down the road and all of a sudden a black cat ran out in front of my car and I hit him. That never happen to me so I turned my car around and went home. I told my boyfriend I will start over tomorrow. I am really scared to drive anywhere now. If anyone have anything to tell me about this story please email me at Ceairra21 (@) gmail.com (Email address edited to foil spambots =editor.)

Black Cats and Robins
by: Katy

The cat may have saved you or someone else from something worse. For all you know if the cat had not run out you may have had another accident further along that would have hurt someone, even a child. The cat could have been knocked down to save you.
If you have a good heart and you care for the creatures around you they look after you I want to tell you something that happened to me. This was a robin not a black cat but it's the same principle.
I have an apple tree in my garden that I rescued from being destroyed. I lugged it down our street on a wheelbarrow because someone had chopped the branches off and dug it up. The neighbours all laughed at me in the street. My wheelbarrow broke at the end of me path just as we got it here. The friends who had helped went off saying dont ever ask for help from us again. I was stuck with it laid on the drive and couldnt move it. The next day an old man had some guys come across the road to do his garden. It was the only time ever that they came, they helped me get it into the hole i had dug. It became a beautiful tree and it fruits every year and it atracts birds that I didn't even know existed. There are some families of robins and wrens living in my garden now. One day about a year ago I had gone to the bus stop. I was waiting for the bus and a robin came and it perched at eye level on the fence right next to the pavement. I went from where I was standing waiting at the edge of the road for the bus and I was talking to it. It wasn't scared it just stayed there. i thought it must have followed me from home and I was very close to it, in fact for a minute I had forgotten the bus. Then the bus came it was out of control and speeding so fast that as it rounded the corner it came onto where I had been standing. If the robin hadn't been there I would be dead, if I hadn't cared about the tree the robin would't have been there.

Bad things happen.
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi Ceairra,

Unfortunately cats, whether black or not, do sometimes run in front of vehicles, it is not always possible to avoid hitting them. But of course we should always drive with care.

I do hope that you stopped to see if you could give, or get, assistance for the cat.

Bad things happen, there is no point in being scared of driving. The fact that the cat was black makes no difference.

Luck
by: Anonymous

It's an awful thing to have happened but it was an accident and I'm sure that the spirit of the cat wouldn't be harmful to you. Luck isn't necessarily good thats why it's luck, it can be good or bad but obviously you felt remorse so don't be too unhappy or worried.
Now if it had been a robin...

Different Return

I had a black cat not all black he had white furs on his chest little ones. He died one day from eating to fast on a bone he found. not less than a week i come home from work and found another black cat on my porch. He looked identical in every way the weirdest part was how fast he clung to me. what does that mean i wonder. i looked harder at him and noticed that his face was different, same body size, same personality i really thought my cat came back from the dead. i felt so relieved but thats probably why i though he was him. it was to weird but i plan to keep this new black cat hes a stray but i fell close to him for some reason. Maybe in some weird way hes my familiar.

Cats have 9 lives
by: Katy

My cat Jess is definitely a reincarnation of a cat called Dusky who lived to 28 years old.

This reply is not about Jess. I had another cat called Sully who died of kidney failure. He was laying in the garden and although suffering he was smiling and purring at me. I said to him that he had to come back. After he had died at the vets, a few days a woman came to my door with a small black kitten, and asked me if it was mine. She asked if I had lost a cat as he had been found wandering on the road outside my house in a terrible thunderstorm with heavy rain. I said no he wasn't mine and she took him home. I told her if the owner couldn't be found I was willing to take him in. A couple of days later she brought him back and I carried him into the house. My son said "It's Sully!" He has the same marks in his fur but isn't identical. This was a tiny kitten about 6 weeks old. I said he hasn't had time to be reborn and grow to this age. Then I thought about the rain. I called this cat Sully Mark Two Nimbus which was shortened to Sully McNimbus. He is the same person inside as Sully. I believe that cats carry friendly spirits inside them who will stay with us through different lifetimes.

What superstion would follow this?

by renee
(edmonton, ab, canada)

I was in Costa Rica, having dinner with a group of people. We saw this black cat..people were trying to have it come to them but really didn't go to them..

I did nothing but sit there in a middle of a conversation the the cat jumped on my lap.

Technically did not cross my path. So what does this mean?

Why not black dogs?
by: Altar5

Why does it have to mean something, why does something a black cat does have to mean anything other than what it was?

A cat crossing in front of someone is just a cat crossing, but if it is black then there are those that just have to make it mean something. Frankly it means the cat has passed in front of you is all.

why is it that black dogs don't come in for all this supernatural talk?

superstion

The cat chose you, nothing you can do about it, be honored.

When cats make mind up they like some person then they like them and that is that.

Friends with cats.
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi Renee,

So, everyone else was doing their best to attract the attention of a black cat, the cat ignored them and made for you who wasn't taking any notice of it.

Nothing superstitious I'd say. Cats, whether black or not, are like that. In a cat's world staring is bad manners, well more than bad manners, it's an act of aggression.

All the other dinner guests were thinking they were being friendly to the black cat by trying to get its attention, but the cat did not see it that way. You were not staring at the cat, so it thought you were friendly, and came to you.

Congratulations Renee, you know how to make friends with cats :0)

Chipy and white (her new found friend)

I found this little kitten dumped in a drainage system closer to my residence on a rainy November night. from that day onwards she is living with us.

I believe that this kitten is very lucky cos she is well pampered and loved by all at home and even my dog doesn't mind the little fellow being with us at home.

I bet she is glad that she is now yours
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi Shali,

Thank goodness that you were able to rescue Chipy and give her a home and your love.

I cannot understand why someone would want to dump a kitten like that. Although maybe she wasn't dumped but found her own way into the drainage system for shelter. It doesn't matter why she was there, I bet she is glad that she is now yours and you pamper her.

Thank you very much for telling us about Chipy your black kitten and sharing all those photos of her.
