Maloose Pashmaloo

by Harriet
(UK)

My stray came to live with me 5 years ago. He is a beautiful black cat with long soft fur and green eyes.

Ever since we adopted it, he gave us gifts of rats and little birds that he patiently caught.

He is so observant on how we opened doors, turned the knob of the cat flap, opened the fridge, etc. In no time he responded to commands such as `Go to the kitchen', `up on the sill' and `come here'. He even follows us to the bus stops. I used to be superstitious about black cats crossing my path, etc. but I fear no more.

There are logical reasons for each thing that happens whether good or bad. Maloose has a lot of friends in facebook and he is adorable.

Gifts of prey.
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi Harriet,

Maloose does indeed sound like a beautiful black cat. And he sounds very intelligent, opening the fridge etc.

His little gifts of prey show that he loves you.

"There are logical reasons for each thing that happens whether good or bad."

That's very true.

Thank you very much indeed for sharing your story with us.

Three Black Kittens...Really?

by Suzann
(Egg Harbor Twp., NJ)

I have always wanted a black cat. I have an orange one and a grey one, but one day I vowed to rescue a sleek black one. My husband swears I am a witch. Well then-- I need a black cat right?

Recently I began seeking information about the Wiccan way of life. Intrigued by its eco-centric philosophies, I decided to explore further and devote some time to meditation and cleansing.

Enter Kitty 1--Salem of course. Rescued from a trailer full of cats and dogs and disarray. One week later-- rescued from a home full of cats that are unaltered and running rampant--Poe (Edgar Allen).

One week after that--Styx--barely two weeks old--dying and alone. Now cozy and clean and bottle fed! All three in three weeks-- all Black! I do not feel unlucky, but I do feel a sense of communication with the universe.

Perhaps the Wiccan way of purity and oneness with Mother Earth is the way for me. Perhaps I needed more than one sign--three?? really???

What a great site!
by: Suzann

I already feel a sense of calm. Taking on these three babies, along with my other two fully grown felines and my three needy albeit luscious pups, was overwhelming to say the least. Thank you Larry for your personal comments and supportive words! I can't wait to get comments on my entry and become a part of your kitty community!

Nothing but good luck.
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi Suzann,

Congratulations on your three black kittens!

Now that must be the power of positive thinking or something. You vowed to rescue a black kitten and you rescued three. :0)

Salem, Poe and Styx, what great names for black cats.

You say you don't feel unlucky, of course you don't. Your new feline friends are going to bring you nothing but good luck.

Black and white cat everywhere..

After my cousin died in a car accident this year, I have noticed black and white cats.

It started at my grandparents house about 2 weeks later that the cat came and meowed until i came out. he is never there unless i visit then he appears again. He follows me around the house and into the house, and when I go back to my home he does not come back until I do.

At my home, a black and white cat, the same as the other one will sit outside my window meowing, if I go out he runs away, but soon he will be back meowing again. He has never been seen there before until 1 week ago?

I had a black cat whom is now staying with my father, he is still my baby. He is now 10years old.

Can someone tell me why these cats are showing up meowing at me?

outside cats
by: Pat

I see cats outside regulart these days. Unfortunately, people have to move, & many times new housing will not accept pets. It takes an appt. With the local shelter, 2 - 6 wks later, plus a $65 charge to taake your pet to theshelter. Many unresponsible pet owners simply turn the cat loose to fend for itself. Unfortunately, these people usually do not alter their pets, thus breeding. A cat outdoors livves just a few years, but since they are breeding, they usually have cats that look like them. Thus, you will see black & white, in another area, they will have the same mixed-colour coat. It's like having a new "breed".

Nothing sinister.
by: Larry (Editor)

Hello,

I'm sorry to read that you lost your cousin.

You may only have recently started noticing black and white cats, but honestly, there are a lot of them.

If you see one and it catches your interest, then you will notice them everywhere. Nothing sinister.

The black and white cat that runs away when you go out is just a little shy of humans.

I really don't think that there is anything superstitious about black and white cats, they are great felines, I have one :0)

But someone else may think differently.

Black Cats Hate Water.

by sierra
(IL newton)

The first week we had my black cat she got into trouble.

I was coming out the front door and yelled for her. My family and i had put a fish pond in the the week before and the fish pond was right out our front door.

My Black cat ran me and forgot the fish pond was there and land in it. I did know if she could swim but she could. The fish that was in there was swimming around her like sharks would. I got her out a gave her a bath. That my story about my black cat.

Pond full of fish.
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi Sierra,

Well, I suppose a pond full of fish is an incentive for any cat, black or not, to learn to swim :0)

I'm glad that your cat was okay when you pulled her out. I bet that she did not like her bath much.

Thank you very much for sharing your story with us.
