Mia the Manx Pixie Bob

Well...this isn't my cat. (sad to say) There's a place called NOAH (Northwest Organization For Animal Help) in Stanwood, Washington.

One day me & a woman (who loved cats) I was dating stopped by and saw the cat colonies. One of the first things I saw was their "star attraction"---a Pixie Bob/Manx with a lion haircut. Her coat was silky, like velvet. Very friendly too. Pixie Bobs are known to lick your hand, similar to a dog.

Why didn't I adopt? My job. I'm gone all the time, working 60-hrs. per week. On the weekends I'm away quite a bit too. I was afraid the cat would get too lonely, even though cats are independent. Mia was what you'd call a "people cat."

I was told by the staff she was. A rumpy (no tail) Manx with some Pixie Bob in her. This picture doesn't show much of her face but she had a bit of an exotic look. Plus, her tendency to lick my hand is also a Pixie Bob characteristic.

Manx

I know there are manx/pixie bob crosses but are you sure that Mia was one? (cute cat by the way.)

Pixie bobs mostly have a short stubby tail but some are tailless.

Maybe the next woman you date (that loves cats) will convince you to adopt two sibling kittens. That way they wont be lonely while you're at work :)...

A fine looking cat.

Hi Erik,

Thank you very much for sharing your picture of Mia with us.

Good for you for putting thought into whether you should have adopted Mia or not. As you say, cats do have certain independence and can usually be left for the day, (with food and water of course.)

But if your work entails you staying away from home perhaps you are right and it would be best to wait until you can come home for your cat.

Mia is a fine looking cat and I'm sure she has a great personality. But there are always many great and loving cats available for adoption, if you find that you no longer have to stay away I'm sure you will find the perfect cat for you.
