cat sleeping for a while

cat sleeping for a while

About a month ago I was playing some videogames when I heard a meowing just outside my door, so I opened the door and there was this little fella of about 1 year old purring and meowing just outside my door, so I let him enter the house.

Immediately I noticed that he wasn't neutered, I feed him some tuna I had and improved a litter box with some old newspapers and a box, however that night about 3am I heard a window opening and when came to take care of the window the cat wasnt there, he actually opened the window and went out.

Any way I went to school on the morning with not news of the cat and didn't take much care, but when I came back (I left the window open just in case) he was there waiting for me and received me with a nice purr and that has been our daily basis for the last month, he has came back of course with some scratches, but nothing serious so far, and his healing is amazing as the fact that since I took him in he has never got fleas or any other parasite.

Although I know that its possible that some day he wont come back I'll care, love and pet him as much as I can :)

Mr. Bended Whisker
by: Elías

Hello, and thanks for your coments, the name in spanish and as I call him is "Señor Bigote Torcido".

But I have to sadly tell you that today after his dayli stroll he came back with a lil injure on his left hind leg, it doesnt seem quite serious, and with the fact that I dont own a car I'll have to wait till tomorrow to take him to the vet, It appears to be a little bite. Any how it seems so far that he just cant lean this leg. Good wishes for tomorrow's vet visit :)

Hola Elías,
You have the same name as my youngest grandson! Good name. :)
Beautiful photo of Mr. Bended Whisker, (Cömo se dice en español?)
Your love for this orphan cat is quite palpable in your posting and very heart-warming. I'm glad you took him in to your home. He looks so happy and safe and peaceful.
I must say, also, as a Spanish and ESL teacher that your English is very good!
Sinceramente,
Teresa

Indoor Cat and Happy.

by Janice Lockheart

I am a fanatical believer in keeping cats indoors. Yes, there is another point of view and I'm sure that those that let their cat out love their cats as much as I love Mitch. But let him outside is something I could never do, I would be much too nervous.

There is not too much traffic here, not like in the cities but all it takes is one car. Then there are people who do not like cats, it is up to them whether they like cats or not, each to their own, but why they do cats harm I just cannot understand. There's the wild animals too, and vicious domestic ones. These are some of the reasons I keep Mitch inside.

Cruel? Some of your readers think it cruel to keep a cat in the house. Well I'm sorry, but it is not cruel. Mitch is happy, I know that he is. He does not have freedom that is true, but even we as human beings have our freedom restricted in some ways.

I just could not be without him, Is that selfish?

Safe and Happy Indoors
by: David H.

Hello, I'm very glad I read your post, it has made me feel a little better.

Three months ago I got myself a little cat, he is a treasure, unbelievably good company.

I keep him inside for the reasons that you keep your cat in.

Of course I was aware that cats enjoy roaming around outside, but also very aware of the dangers. It was not an easy decision but I felt it was the right one.

My brother has been on my case about it. He says all the stuff about being cruel and I am just selfish. It gets to me.

Like your Mitch, my cat is happy, I'm sure he is.

EVERY CAT IS DIFFERENT
by: Anonymous

Every cat and every situation are different. I have 2 oudoor and 1 indoor. The oldest is an outdoor tom (neutered) eleven years old. His life as an outdoor has been great, but so is the life of my indoor for other reasons. You´re not selfish, or perhaps you are, we all are to a degree, so what? If your cat is happy, that´s all that matters, and I do believe you when you say he is.

Selfish?
by: Anonymous

I think that it is selfish to keep cats indoors only. Imagine if you only stayed indoors and never went outside ever, do you think you would be at your optimal health?

I understand your worry, however you could train your cat to go outdoors in a harness with a leash. My cat waits to be harnessed and even though people might look at me weird if we are at the park, I feel good about letting my cat outside safely. Most of the time however I would just harness her while I was in the backyard. She now goes outside without her leash and has never left our small yard. She learned her boundaries. I must caution you however if you do harness your cat you cannot leave her outside unattended, you must be there incase the leash gets caught on something, etc.

The thing is cats are smart, and if I were a cat I would rather live a shorter life free, doing what nature intended, then a longer life caged indoors.

Cannot understand people who harm cats.
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi Janice,

It is not cruel to keep your cat inside, if Mitch is happy that is all that matters.

I too cannot understand people who harm cats, they may not like cats, that is up to them, but to cause any animal harm is inexcusable.

And no, you are not being selfish, you love your cat. Cats have that effect on us.

Thank you very much indeed for your submission.
