My Baby, Christel

In 1992, Christel became a part of my life. I loved her, but since I had many other kittens, I feel as if I didn't give her enough attention.
When I first adopted her, she had ring worm so I had to give her oatmeal bathes every day. As the number of kittens I had grew, the less attention she received. Christel was a beautiful Persian long haired calico cat with golden blood lines.
She always knew when some one was sad, and always comforted them. she even used to pet her self! Around the end, Christel was sick for a year and a half. The vets suspected stomach cancer and inflammation, but she was too old to have a biopsy. I didn't want to believe it.
One day, I brought her to the groomers and they sheared her, but when I picked her up, something was wrong. She was shaking like crazy and wouldn't face me. Its sad that I felt like she could live forever with me, but that didn't happen. I didn't want to believe anything was wrong, so when the groomer and I stopped talking, I checked on her. She was terribly afraid of dogs, so I put a blanket on her cage. I'm a horrible person. I could have saved her, but I didn't speak up. And whats worse is she died alone in the darkness of a cat carrier.I screamed for an hour until I finally cooled down. Christel died at age 18, two months before her birthday.
