Splendid.
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi Traci,

It looks like Jack has found something to laugh about - or is that an almighty yawn?

Either way he is a splendid example of a black cat. You were lucky to have him come at you from a left angle, or a right angle, any angle . . . you have a great cat.

Thank you very much for sharing Jack's photo and story with us.

They are loving.
by: J Gilden

I miss my Bombay boy. Friendly and loving yes he was. I don't think that another cat is ever going to replace him.

Please understand I do love the cat I have now very much, she is a good cat, no trouble. But its not the same, my Bombay was special. I don't even think that another Bombay cat would be the same.

Cats always help us to have a good day. :)

I bet that your 'parlor panther' does indeed give you hours of enjoyment because Bombay's are very friendly cats.

Survivor

by Shirley Johnson
(Milwaukie, Oregon, USA)

We moved into our Duplex in 2006 an inherited a stray black cat with white paws. She was, and still is, very antsy. I have been feeding her everyday for the past 4+ years.

When she is in the house, she is very loving. But only to me. She will shy away from everyone else.

When I come home in the car and pull into the driveway, she excitedly runs to the car. But it ends there. She will not let me pick her up. In fact, I only get to pet her when she is outdoors.
I have never known her name, so I just call her "Kitty".

But she is a survivor. She has survived, living outdoors with us for over 4 years, while all the other cats that were around here, have disappeared.

Kitty is comfortable with you.
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi Shirley,

Kitty the survivor sounds like a little darling.

The fact that she is loving to you when in the house shows that she is comfortable with you. Never mind that she is a little cooler when outside, that's just her way.

Well done to you for giving her a home and taking care of her.

Thank you very much for sharing Kitty's story with us.

Strange or what!

by hilary
(france)

i moved to a house in the country a few months ago, i said to my husband the only animal i wouldn't mind living with us would be a black cat, ( i had this urge to own a black cat)i don't know why.....

a few weeks later we looked out of our window and saw a feral mother and 2 kittens sitting on our garden table, one of the kittens was black, they were in a pitiful state, so i started feeding them, this continued for about 2 months, then only one cat turned up - the black one, his mother and sister never returned.

he now sleeps indoors with our dog,and is one of the family, hes so soft and adorable, this cat was meant to be part of our family, how strange.............

it was strange!
by: Anonymous

thankyou for your comment (man in the river)
but it was strange to me that sooty came to live with us,
I wished for a black cat, and a feral mother and two kittens turned up in our garden, one kitten was black the other grey & white, I put food down for all of them for over 2 months, they were all treated the same, but what seemed strange to me, was one morning only the black kitten turned up his feral mother and other grey & white kitten never came back, and sooty has been with us ever since, his coat is like velvet so shiny and black, hes turned into a beautiful looking cat, he has never jumped on the furniture, hes so well behaved,we love him........including our old dog.

You are doing good.
by: Man by the river.

Was the cat meant to be with you because you always wanted a black cat? Hate me for saying it but no, it was pure coincidence.

The cat was meant to be with you because you would take care of it and it's needs. You are doing that and the best of the world to you. I lovey love black cats but I don't hang no ju ju nonsense on them good or bad.

don't cross the cats path.
by: Anonymous

To have a black cat cross over your path is cool. Don't go crossing the cats path, that ain't cool at all, it is so very uncool.

That black cat will be mighty displeasured with you. If you are out and it looks like you are about to cross a path, turn back. Get me?

You are correct.
by: Larry (Editor)

Hello,

Well, the answer to whether a black cat crossing in front of you is considered good or bad luck, does depend on where you live.

As it happens, I live in England too so I know that most people here believe it is 'good' luck, so that makes you correct.

I don't know whether you think the same but I was brought up to believe that when 'you cross the path of the black cat' it's bad luck.

It's all superstition though, you make your own luck. And black cats are nether lucky or unlucky, just great cats.
