I am so sorry for your loss Zig
by: Anthony Cascio

I can't imagine losing one of my two cats. I can definitely feel your pain. Maybe you can rescue and love another cat to try another cat to fill your void. by the way Zig, I have been truly blessed by your book Better than Good. I am about halfway through. I downloaded it to my iPhone. I find myself reading it every chance I get. It is by far the best inspirational book that I have ever read and I love how everything is supported by scripture verses. God bless you Zig!

Hello,

I'm so sorry to read of the loss of your cat Zig Zag.

It's sad that he went the way that he did as he obviously was a dog friendly cat.

Thank you very much for sharing Zig Zag's photo with us, he was a good looking fellow.

Why i loved my cat ameer

by Sumayya
(England)

my story of ameer (my cat)is that when i first moved in to my house i decided to go outside when i saw something on the pavement i dropped down to look and it turned out to be a bowl then suddenly i saw something move and a small thud on top of the blue bin in front of me.

when i looked up there sat ammer looking very radiant and his posture looked so like a soldier standing to attention that i laughed. when i called to him and stroked him he seemed quiet delighted of the attention i gave him especially when i scratched his cheek!i called to my big brother and he was in awe and he to laughed when he saw what he was sitting on. when my dad saw he came out with a small plate of milk and tuna and gave it to him. after that he kept paying us a visit for two days morning and night he came and even brought a friend (female)but she was very shy.

when our next door neighbour appeared and said that it was his cat i and my dad was shocked for my dad had gone around the neighbourhood asking if they owned and our neighbour when asked said no! i was very cross and laughed when i heard the name he had called him- pixy!!! but then he said that his when his wife gave birth to a baby they'd had to put him outside and he put a dogs kennel out side in hope he would sleep there!-but of course he didn't and instead went around the neighbourhood scavenging for food!

after that i played with him before going to school and when i came back play some more. at night i began bringing him inside at first my mum was hesitant because she claimed to be allergic but after a while she noticed she hadn't sneezed once!but still said he had to go outside i was very upset but never gave up and kept sneaking him in when i few days later my dad came in with something i was just about to argue that he should be aloud in when my dad held up a black collar i was overjoyed with happiness and knew that it was final pixy was ours!

we changed his name to ameerah (which in arabic was princess but when taken to the vet turned out to be a boy! so changed to ameer-prince)i was shocked when i found out how old he was-12yrs! that is very old but i thought him vey young for he played like a kitten all the time! i loved him very much and everyday when at home called him to my lap and stroked him from hours at a time! he began to get very fat but i didn't care very much because he still went outside for exercise.

one night ameer was very late home and i was very worried for earlier that evening i'd heard screeches and yowls which sounded like cats fighting!when he came home his ear was damp and it turned out to be blood!the next day we took him to the vet and he was ok but after that night things started to go wrong ameer was thirteen and had started to get ill one of his glands or something in his throat was not working so they had to operate.

it went fine and everything was good again the stitches healed but ameer would never be the same ever again. instead of getting better he got worse and at the vet the nurse said he may die in the next few days i was heart broken we put him in the boiler room where it was nice and warm ,put him in his basket and wrapped him up. that night i came in and saw he had curled up under the blanket. the next day i woke up and heard my mum talking saying ameer ha died and must have just seen his last sunrise forever. i shall never forget the times i had with him and the nights i sneaked down stairs into the living room while my parents watched telly in the front room and listened to the music while stroking him for almost 2hrs nearly every night.

he died on may the 16th 2007.

A great friend.

Hi Sumayya,

Thank you very much for telling us about your cat Ameer. You do not say that Ameer was a tabby but posted in the "Your Special Tabby Cat" section so I assume that he was.

It sounds like you had a great friend in Ameer and I'm sorry that you lost him.

You were quite right in taking him to the veterinarian after discovering his injuries. Unfortunatly one of the drawbacks of allowing cats outside is that they do sometimes get in to fights, especially male cats.

Do you have a new cat in your life?
