Not alone

by Briar
(UK)

I was feeling really alone, walking back through town, I was kinda in a world of my own, deep in thought when I heard a meowing next to me.

I looked down to see a black cat walking beside me, at first I just ignored it, but then it followed me for about 10 minuets so I bent down and stoked it, and figured it was just friendly, it then continued to follow me all the way home, it stopped on the pavement outside my house, and left a few minuets after I went inside.

I'm not superstitious but its almost like it sensed my loneliness and decided to keep my company, anyone know what this is suppose to mean?

You are not alone...

I think you came upon a big black bunch of sweetness and that it doesn't have to mean anything except that it gave you comfort in your time of need. Take care!

A new friend.
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi Briar,

Congratulations on making a new friend.

Can cats sense the mood of humans? I guess that they often can.

Whether the black cat sensed that you were in need of company or not I don't know. Perhaps it was just a very friendly cat.

What is it supposed to mean? I think it just means the cat was friendly. Others may have a different opinion.

Thank you very much for sharing your story with us.

Subjective Cat Company Perceptions
by: Teresa

Though I tend to agree that the cat was likely friendly and perhaps looking for some human contact (in that strange, idiosyncratic, making no sense as to why or when or how way of cats), I also know that sometimes things happen in our lives that strike an inner emotional chord just when we need it. Who knows whether you drew that cat to you out of your sense of loneliness or whether it was pure chance that it happened when it did? It seems to me that the important thing is how you felt and what meaning you gave the event (and the cat.)
I say take good omens as a positive sign when they happen in your life no matter what their origin or ultimate truth. T.
