One Lucky Black Cat.
by Missy
(USA, South)
Gaia
I was driving home from work late at night with the children sleeping peacefully in the backseat.
Our neighborhood was extremely dark and I was having to navigate quite a narrow space to get past all the curb parked cars. Without any warning, two copper globes were glowering at me just a few feet away from my headlights. I slammed on the brakes and saw an ebony blur dart under an old pickup truck.
I pulled my hazard lights on and called out to see if I could help the poor stray. A very raucous and coarse meow greeted my calls and the mysterious shadow dove into my arms. This was about 6 months ago and Gaia is now a part of our family. Her name means mother, and she is a true to nature Bombay; full of love and playfulness.
My black shade is nothing but good luck as she watches over our family like a hawk and purrs as our three year old gleefully dresses her like a baby and runs with her through the house.
