Optimus Prime, the love of my life

My boyfriend and I were sitting at a campfire when my Aunt was talking about someone her sister in law knew having kittens. Chris and I had talked about getting a cat, but I was kind of on the fence.
When I was young, my brother and I had an orange and white male tabby I named Beebop, who was with us for for 13 great years. I had a really hard time getting over his passing. (He was diagnosed with a heart murmur as a kitten and we were told he wouldn't live past 2....) he had a GREAT life and was a wonderful pet....
So finally I decided I would go look at the kittens. The home was not well kept and there were a lot of other animals....(his first visit to the vet revealed, fleas, mites, awful...) There were 4 different kittens, 2 black and whites, one light grey furball,, and a dark grey furball. The dark grey one was a stumbling mess, trying to climb a tv stand, squeeze under it, and LOVED to show off for us. I finally picked him up, and he just calmly lay on my arm and looked at me. I knew it was him.
Now, a year later, from a scraggly ball of fur, he grew into a majestic Coon mix. He's a very intelligent cat, full of energy, and hates to be without his people. He's never in a room without us, and has to always be involved with whatever is going on. Our neighbor tells us how he meows constantly when we have to go away. He gets so overjoyed just hearing our footsteps on the front porch.
My O.P. brings new meaning of companion animal. He sleeps on my chest every morning, and gives me head butts. He comes running to me when I call him, whether he's outside or inside. I couldn't imagine not having him in my life.
Not only do I have a forever friend, but I feel I gave him a great life full of love and attention and companionship. Thank you for having this place to post thoughts of the cats we love.
