OUTLAW, ENDORA & ESMERALDA

by Deidra
(Spencerport, NY)

I at present have 3 black cats, one male and 2 female. Outlaw was my 1st. He was found in a rural area roaming in a cornfield when he was 3 months old. Very sickly and full of worms, he is my baby now, he is 7.

Endora is also 7, she is only a few months older than Outlaw, she is a shelter kitty. Black kittys are usually the last to be chosen and Outlaw needed a friend since my other cat Agador passed away a couple years before.

I for some reason could always picture 3 black cats, so a Dec 20,2008 while at the shelter to make donations for Christmas, I saw Esmeralda (cant tell that I love Bewitched can ya?)She is now 3 yrs old. Only my niece & I can tell them apart right away because they are all solid black and all of their eyes change from green to yellow, and at the same time. The 3 of them have lots of energy, and are a hand full @ times, but are great and I Love my black kittys dearly!

I can never understand . . .
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi Deidra,

Thank you very much for sharing your story of your three black cats with us.

Good for you for giving your cats a home and some love. I bet three are a hand full, but it is obvious that you don't mind.

Yes, black cats often are the last to be chosen from a shelter, I can never understand that.

Am I Jinxed?

by chris
(jc tn us)

I was coming home one night and a black creator ran across the road. we stopped and i jumped out of the pathfinder to see what it was. I noticed it didn't look like it had a tail? it ran in a ditch so i looked over the it thin i seen its eyes glowing then i seen it was a cat.

it looked like it was starving so i took it home and feed it. the strange thing is that it was rite by the house. And its tail is missing. nobody has been saying they have a missing tail less black cat. and its not like a jumpiness bob tail. its hole tail is missing. and it makes a point to cross as many paths as possible!

Jinxed?
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi Chris,

Are you jinxed? I would say not.

It was kind of you to feed the black cat. Tail less cats are not that rare - Manx Cats.

As for the cat making a point to cross peoples paths, I'm not sure what that means, probably nothing.

Thank you very much for sharing your story with us.

Lucky the Black Cat

by David Childers
(Romulus, Michigan USA)

I found Lucky living underneath our house last winter. We felt so bad for her that we brought her in the house.

I don't understand why people think that black cats are bad luck. I'm very lucky to have Lucky! She is the Sweetest most gentle cat ever.

She is also VERY smart. She knows just about every thing that I say. I've also gotten to the point that I can tell what she wants by the different way she meows. She has a meow for when she wants outside, she has a meow for when she wants a treat and she has a meow for when she wants to play. She is also very talkative. She meows a lot We also give her a superhero persona by calling her, "Invisible Cat" because you can't see her in the dark. She is also very protective of me. She always sleeps outside my bedroom door. As if she is guarding me from something.

When we took her to the vet, we found out that she had been spayed and declawed in her front paws. We tried to find her owner but we couldn't find any owner. We live in kind of a rural area (not many houses around close) so our theory is that she was dumped out there. I'm always talking about her at work. My co-workers often ask me how she is doing. She's like my daughter, now. She always greets me when I come home from work and wants to be petted. I'm very lucky to have Lucky!

Cats can tell us a lot.
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi David,

Thank you very much indeed for telling us about Lucky.

I too don't understand why some people think black cats to be unlucky, but then we all have superstitions of one kind or another.

Yes, cats can tell us a lot with their different meows and with their body language.

"Invisible Cat" :0) I like that.

Anyone who shares their life with a cat is indeed lucky,I'm glad that your black cat is lucky for you.

Today, I was talking to my mother of the car window She was parked near the Sidewalk. and
from the side of my eye I saw a black cat. it stopped beside and when I moved to shoo it kept moving forward and it stopped and looked at me I Shood it again and then it went on his own way.

After that I told my mom to turn the block and to go another way, but she went to the place where the black cat passed.

And now I'm really scared. I don't want to
be superstitious but It keeps getting on my mind.
How do I make it get out and think that it's good luck.

I believe in Jesus but that really bother's me.
After We where going home, Me and my mom Fought. And I was crying inside me, blaming the cat.

Good Luck
by: Larry (Editor)

Hi Jr,

If you believe that a black cat crossing your path to be bad luck and something bad happens, likely you will blame it on the cat.

But if you believe that a black cat crossing your path to be good luck and something good happens, well that's because of the lucky black cat :0)

OK, you want someone to tell you black cats are good luck? Alright, they are! (actually all cats are lucky.)

Now tell yourself that black is only going to bring you good fortune and cook your mom a nice meal to make up for the fight you had :0)
