She came to me

My Binnie

My Binnie

My first cat was called Missie. She was like a daughter to me. I was living in London (Notting Hill Gate) at the time.

Missie's mother lived with a neighbour who used to keep her pregnant (don't know why).

Because she was pregnant she was hungry and she came to me for food. She adored semi-raw kidney, which I used to part micro-wave with her on top of the micro-wave (she loved that bit).

When she gave birth for the umpteenth time she gave birth to Missie and Freddie. We (my ex and I) adopted Missie and Freddie (I called him Boo Boo).

They had a bit of Norwegian Forest Cat in them (fabulous jumpers, particularly Missie - straight up 6 feet).

When I moved out of London (I am now back) on my separation from my then wife Missie was killed on the road (I think). I found her and she is now with me still in a casket. I still cry for her.

Just before Missie's death a stray cat had peered at me from under a car outside my house. She was frightened, nervous and abandoned. I fed her and she stayed. Missie and Boo Boo were great with her.

I called her Judders as her tail juddered when she saw me (excitement at finding a home). I call her Binnie as well as we have fought the past 14 years over her diet or lack of it.

Binnie is still with me, old and beautiful lady, impeccably behaved.

One month ago Timmy arrived. He likes the food and the company. He may stay. As usual, he chose me.

Have them altered. It stops pregnacy!
by: Anonymous

People have cats that are constantly pregnant because they simply can't be bothered to have them altered. I hate that.

From what you write you have had some good cats, aren't they all good, lol. I love your black and white looking over the stairs.

What an interesting story . . .
by: Larry (editor)

Hi Michael,

What an interesting story about all your cats, a fine photo of Binnie too. Thank you very much indeed for sharing with us.

What a great name for a cat, Judders, yes they do that thing with their tail don’t they :-)

I’m sure that, like your other cats, Timmy will stay after all he’s chosen you.

Larry.

Nutty Kitten.

by Tess
(someplace.)

I chose her I picked her out from the litter. There was two other cute little kittys but she was the cutest of them.

The name I wanted to call her was Natty because she is kind of nutty we couldn't call her Nutty though, so I thought Natty would be cool. But everyone else wanted Bridget so Bridget it is, but we all seem to be saying Bridie.

Not sure if Bridie would have chosen us because we are a kind of weird family, that's everyone but me naturally. :0) But she is a most nutty kitten herself so she sure fits in with us.

Bridie has us laughing all the time at the things she does, sometimes when she is eating her kitten food she will suddenly stop and stare at it and then raise up on her hind legs and slam her two front paws right into her food!

Then she will run around the place leaving yucky paw marks all over, is that weird or what. She sometimes then causally goes back and eats the rest of her food. Other times she will stop running and sit in a corner and lick the food from her paws. Trust me to pick out the nutty kitten.

We all love her though, even dad who says he has never liked cats, that's what he says. But then he would like Bridie because she is as nutty as he is. (Hi dad) :0)

The Day I Met The Love Of My Life!

by Dorothy D. Saum
(Lincoln, Nebraska)

It was in the Summer of 2000. My sister and I drove up to St. Joseph, Mo., to go to the mall.

As we walked into the mall, I noticed that the Humane Society had a display and we noticed that they had a kitten. Me, being the cat lover of all cats, just had to stop and ask if I could hold the kitten. They said I could. I held her, she was so small, and and was a Calico.

I asked if I could adopt her and of course they said Yes. But, I would have to wait until Monday, because the Humane Society was not open on Saturday. I asked if the could hide her at the shelter and that I would get her on Monday.

Then I remembered that I had to work that Monday. So, I asked a friend, if I gave him the money to get her and for his gas to drive 60 miles to up her up. He said he would.

So on that Monday morning they went and got her for me and we have been inseparable. She is really spoiled. Does not act her age, but I can see old age creeping up on her like it is creeping up on me. We sleep together, she talks to me, she understand some sign Language.

In June, she will be 10 human years old. Has never touched grass with her paws. Never caught a mouse, but did let me know when she found a grass snake in the kitchen behind the stove. I love her with all my heart and soul. Her name is Josey Belle, also known as Bebs, Beber, Bebers.

My Baby Ally (How I chose my cat.)

My Baby Ally (How I chose my cat.)

I got Ally a week before Halloween, my ferret died and i was left with a broken heart. When they gave me Ally at first I did not like him.

I was not really a cat person but after a while I fell in love with him and took him almost everywhere i went.

Everyday he loves me more and everyday i love him more. Since Ally has made such a positive change in my life i decided to get another cat ( A black cat) which I called Harley.
