Stray tabby dangerously wanders into a dog pen

Cookie from Minnesota

This stray tabby was barely four months old when she somehow wandered in my parent's fenced-in backyard where three large dogs lived.

My Dad was first alerted by some barking and growling. When he went out to see what the commotion was he found a little cat motionless and lying under one of his hounds. To his relief he saw that the poor cat was alive and amazingly unharmed. She apparently had been very still and was making crying noises during the attack. I wonder if this saved her life?

The next day or so, my girlfriend and I adopted the tabby and named her, Cookie. She had been with us for eight years now.

sweet cookie.

What a beautiful looking Cookie a real picture. I'm so glad that she was not hurt at all but I'm not sure that dogs always do harm cats. They love to bark and chase them but I don't think that it is usually any thing other than chasing sometimes. Best to keep your cat safe though.

Thank goodness that Cookie was unhurt.

Hi Ken,

Cookie is simply beautiful!

Did Cookie save herself by being still? Well, I don't know too much about dog behavior, but I have known dogs to back off when a cat has stood his or her ground.

But thank goodness that she was unhurt, and you and your girlfriend have got yourselves and splendid cat.

Thank you very much for sharing your story, and Cookie's photo, with us.
