Trix our cat goes outside.

by Kelly S.

Trix goes outside pretty much when she wants to. We have never tried keeping her in the house and I doubt that we could.

She is not adventurous so mostly stays within our rambling garden area, nothing much to keep her from going off but she doesn't seem to want to do so, she knows that she will be fed here.

If we lived someplace else, where there are more critters or traffic, I don't know if it would be good to let her roam about. It is safe here.

Trix has had her visit to the veterinarian clinic so she is not going to get herself pregnant.

My sister's cat
by: connie

My sister had a cat similar to your cat. Moggy was allowed to come and go when she pleased...until the morning when she came home to die on the lawn from blood loss due to it's hind leg being torn off.

My next-door neighbor had to spend $1600 to get her outdoor cat fixed up because another cat attacked it.

I know that you think that your cat will be hard to keep indoors, so could you perhaps build her a wire run (roofed over...part wood and part wire) with a "kitty door" so that she can come and go as she pleases. I would like to think that she is safe. My 2 cats love their run and they can enjoy nature and the warmth of the inside and still be able to eat grass, catch insects and sunbathe.

Good that Trix enjoys the outdoors.

Hi Kelly,

Thank you very much for your submission. It is good that Trix can enjoy the outdoors without going too far and that you feel it is safe for her where you live.

You are right, if she has been going outside for some time it would be difficult to keep her indoors, but I have often read that it can be done.

Please try.

You are saying that you have not tried to keep your cat in the house. why don't you try? You are saying that it is safe wherever it is you are, it is not safe for cats, you can bet the farm on it. Please try to keep her inside.
