We got Zeke 14 years ago as a wedding present. Zeke was a beautiful cat. He was a Siamese.

We lived in So Cal in Dana point in a canyon. At every opportunity Zeke would escape to the outdoors. We would look for him for hours, After a few weeks of this, I thought I cant do this anymore. If you want to go outdoors good luck your on your own. He loved it. We tried to keep him in every night but during the day he hunted and chased butterflies and bugs.

Then we moved to Montana for 5 years and the first winter it was cold. He stayed in all winter but when spring came he was back outside. We had a lot of wild life in Montana but he survived.

Then we moved to Lake Tahoe. There are lot of coyotes where we live. We have lived here for 7 years and Zeke loved it here. He caught birds and squirrels and mice.

About a month ago he didn't come home. He had just turned 14 years old. We thought, Well Zeke the coyotes finally got you until today we found his body at our neighbors house. He body was intact and no coyotes had gotten him. He died of old age doing what he loved. Hunting and being outdoors. He was a big beautiful cat. All the neighbors knew him and loved him too. He will be greatly missed.

In Memory of Zeke.

Shahin,

I know how you feel after having Zeke for 14 years. The last time I saw her in your house last Christmas was hiding under the bed I was sleeping on and spent the whole night with me. He was really a coolest animal. I am sorry that he left you forever, but I am glad that he lived a long life and you found it not taken by other wild animals. I hope my comment will comfort you as well.

Zeke Loved to Hang Out

Shahin,

Zeke wandered Millcreek neighborhood because felt he owned it. He was a special animal, because he knew when Joyce was very ill, and decided to give much needed companionship. The Sunday before you lost him he was hunting from my fence, and came to see me. He never missed an opportunity to find a chipmunk, or a bird, or the opportunity to enjoy some tuna at our house.

He was a special animal because of his personality. Very affectionate for his breed, and he loved the outdoors. He would always greet Alex and Pam when they arrived as if to inquire why they left him. He owned the neighborhood, and we always enjoyed seeing him on patrol.

We miss Zeke, and thank you Shahin for sharing such a sweet animal with us. I'm happy his fate was not caused by a coyote. I felt bad I was not able to assist you Shahin in looking for him, since I broke my foot.

I will close with the memory one Christmas season, where it was a 20 degree night, and he got on top of our lighted bear (the bear is animated by moving its head from side to side), and was swatting the bear's head every time it moved. I think he enjoyed the warmth from the bear's Christmas lights, and yet was able to show the moving bear who was boss. He did this for about 1/2 hour, Joyce and I looking on and laughing at his antics.

Shahin,

Pam and I will miss Zeke, too -- he is definitely in our "cat hall of fame" as one of the coolest cats we've known. We never tired of his visits to our patio and will miss seeing his furry face peering into our sliding glass door.

Any cat that gets 14 years as he did is lucky indeed. He had a great family and many friends who cared for and watched over him, plus he lived in some wonderful places.

Our favorite Zeke story:

On a summer evening when your family was away boat camping, Zeke joined Pam and I on our patio, comfortably snoozing on our deck chair. As it turned to dusk, Pam worried aloud that it was getting too close to "coyote time." I encouraged Zeke to go cross the street and go home, but he was apparently in no hurry. He sat down in the middle of Oxen Road and non-chalantly began his grooming routine.

Then a grey blur came at him from the direction of Flume - a coyote in full pursuit. Zeke sprinted down your driveway followed by the Coyote ... who was followed by me .. who was followed by Pam. It must have looked like a scene from a cartoon!

Zeke made his close escape a good 30 feet up a pine tree. The coyote disappeared into the evening. We stood at the bottom of the tree, telling your cat that "the coast was clear." Zeke quickly came down and went straight into his pet door. Death defied again by the Tahoe Mountain Cat.

Zeke, you made your mark. What a guy!

Hi Shahin,

Sorry to read of your loss. Zeke was indeed a beautiful looking cat.

At fourteen he had a good long life and if the outdoors was his domain, as you say, he has gone to rest in the place that he loved.
